need help understanding

I'm new to reading financial reports & wonder if I'm reading CMTR's correctly. During the last quarter the report states 500K+ total product sales. Since their only product is the cholesterol test, and in my drugstore these sell for $11, does that mean that in the entire worldwide market, Chemtrak only sold ($589,000 \ $11 ) 53,000 (approx) kits. That doesn't seem like a whole lot of demand for what was supposed to be a blockbuster product targeted at the millions of concerned consumers. If I'm reading this wrong, or anyone has a more comprehensive understanding, your imput would be appreciated.
