A. Beetles.

At time zero, the distance between the beetles is two feet, as each beetle takes a step toward the next beetle, the beatle ahead of it takes a step 60 degrees to the left of the first beetles path so effectively cos(60) or 1/2 step away from the first beetle. Every step therefore only brings the beetle (1 - 1/2) or 1/2 step closer to the beetle it is trying to catch. The total distance traveled by each beetle will be four feet before it catches the one it is following. At one inch per second, it will take 48 seconds to travel four feet.
