Well, I have to agree with you there. However, I'd point out that the hypocrisy is on both sides of the aisle. For example, Bush and his friends pushed through and billed called the "Energy Bill" which was largely touted as their response to the oil crisis. It gave $13 billion in tax subsidies to oil companies that were already raking in record profit. Any first year economics student could tell you that it would add no legitimate incentive to oil companies that the market had not already provided with $60+ oil prices. It was a giveaway and Bush was responsible for it. That is true hipocracy when you consider that in every poll, most Americans want something major to be done to reduce our dependence on oil.
