Back in about '93 I was helping a guy with some retriever training on my hunting club. Most of the summer had been dry but we had rain that day and during the prior week. The skeeters were out by the zillions. I was tossing the training dummy so I couldn't put repellant on my hands and being 85 degrees I hadn't though to bring gloves. By the end of the day I couldn't close my hands around the steering wheel because of the swelling from the bites. The next day I sanded my hands with some 60 grit and rinsed with a bottle of Camphophenique. That hurt but helped the itch.
