Hitachi wins "innovation of the year" award from EDN for its DVD-RAM drive........ newsalert.com <<In its announcement of the finalists for the outstanding product of the year award (in the February 2 issue) EDN stated that DVD products would soon completely supplant previously ubiquitous CD technology. The editors cited the Hitachi GF-1000 family of drives for features such as a dual-laser, dual-lens optical pick-up that enables it to read a variety of media including DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, CD-R (record-once CD media) and CD-RW (rewritable). Additionally, at about one cent per megabyte, it offers the lowest cost per megabyte of any removable-storage product. >>
