The Vancouver Sun reports in its Thursday edition that the B.C. Securities Commission was forced to relax its cease-trade order against Thermo Tech Technologies after American authorities allowed trading to continue in the U.S. The Sun's David Baines writes that trading in Thermo Tech on the OTC Bulletin Board has been explosive in recent days, enabling American investors to sell their shares at a considerable premium to recent market prices. B.C. investors, however, are stymied by a cease-trade order that the commission imposed on July 14, 1999, after raising questions about the former Langley company's dealings. On Wednesday, the BCSC said it would resolve the problem by permitting B.C. residents to sell any shares acquired before the cease-trade order. Former and current insiders would not be able to sell any of their shares. Thermo Tech, which is promoting a process for turning organic waste into animal feed and fertilizer, has a long history of murky dealings, including misrepresenting its affairs and exaggerated business prospects, The Sun reports.
