I like the idea of owning Intel, except my timing was very poor. I got into it reluctantly, on the advice of an idiot broker, and have looked at nothing but paper losses since, while other stocks I have been tracking have soared 35 to 70% in the same five weeks.

Be patient. I bought INTC about two years ago. I bought one lot on 7/19/95 for 66-5/8 and the other after a pull back and rebound on 11/17/95 for the same price. After this INTC tanked to just below 50. Since then it has split and is 93, so in less than 2-1/2 years I have almost a triple, plus a few dollars of dividend.

This is the classic buy-and-forget stock. If you want a security to trade instead of to buy and hold then there are a lot of stocks that are much more volatile.
