Attn: ARMed investors-recent decline in share price unwarranted by Crusoe announcements. Target for Linus's chip is not embedded market, moreso they are after INTC for use in laptops, subnotebooks, etc.
Only a small portion of ARM's market.
ARM is entrenched with all major chipmakers for their products, will continue as leader in core development and licensing for majority of established markets.
Reaction evidenced in share price drop may be due to prior lack of perceived low power consumption competition, combined with name recognition of Linus/LINUX. Arm remains independent and therefore acceptable to many semiconductor mfgrs worldwide; Crusoe may have more difficulty with IBM as fab, gaining acceptance for use of chip in devices.
Strength of Crusoe appears to be low power consumption while providing X86 function, therefore extended laptop battery life, vs. power hungry INTC/AMD processors.
ARM is not in the laptop processor business; maybe some competition for PDA usage btw ARM/Crusoe, defer to others more knowledgeable.
Going into earnings on 1/31/2000, this may be good buying opportunity
Noticed today in London, ARM.L traded down about 2.5% at close; ARMHY down more than 7% in New York.
Possible recovery for ARMHY shares after digestion of significance/lack thereof of Crusoe for ARM future.
Buying here.
Regards,
James
