To All - Another new contract for CLIX (February 3, 1997)..CLI Wins $1.1 Million Contract to Deliver Distance Learning Solution to Boise State University; Radiance Videoconferencing Systems to Link Campuses, Ten Rural Communities

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1997--Compression Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ:CLIX) announced today that it has won a $1.1 million contract to supply videoconferencing equipment for a Boise State University distance learning project that will bring expanded course offerings to several rural and underserved Idaho school districts.

"Our partnership with Boise State and these communities reiterates CLI's commitment to distance learning, and illustrates how advanced videoconferencing technology can have a significant positive impact on our communities," said John Turner, CLI's Director of Marketing. CLI's videoconferencing systems are used for distance learning in a variety of industries, including education, healthcare, government and business.

The 10 CLI Radiance videoconferencing systems -- part of Boise State University's Distance Learning Network -- are currently being brought on-line at high schools in southwestern Idaho, and will be used to deliver academic, technical and vocational instruction directly into the classrooms. The purchase was funded by the Boise State University College of Technology, the State of Idaho, and the Economic Development Administration.

"We chose CLI not only because of our good experiences with them in the past, but because of the fact that their technology is simply the best," said Dr. Sharon Cook, Associate Dean of BSU's College of Technology. "We had some very high expectations, and CLI exceeded those expectations, both from a technological and customer service standpoint."

"This is a real opportunity to serve the needs of not only our students and schools, but our business community as well," said
Cook. "These videoconferencing systems will assist students in earning a diploma, receive technical and vocational training, and have access to academic courses that aren't offered in their schools, all of which means a better-trained workforce for Idaho's business community."

Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., CLI is a leading designer and manufacturer of videoconferencing solutions. Using its core technology, compressed digital video, the company provides a broad range of video communications products for business, government, educational, healthcare and other organizations. CLI's installed base includes major corporations and institutions such as Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, General Electric and the National Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in China .
