I wonder if SRAM and DRAM have really been profitable over time. While fabs are great for semi-equips, I am not sure about semis. The big spenders are the almost monopolist, INTC, and the low cost of capital South East Asian countries.

I agree that "temporary competitive advantages" in a large market may provide investment opportunities. Unfortunately, these are the kinds of opportunities that require astute short or medium term trading. My approach is more long term and I have avoided these "opportunities".
