Hugh - I think CR is straight in its review.

The surveys themseleves could be part of the problem. There is no requirement for proof, so many people may lie. Or even write down cars they hate and give it a bad rating. No way for CR to check this.

However, I have read reviews that were completely inaccurate. In some cases I don't think they even drove the car. For example they recently said that a Dodge Challenger's steering is slow and unresponsive. It is anything but! They said it had a soft ride, but they were wrong again. It seemed they had copied many aspects of another review in a magazine very closely. But that review was a comparison of the Challenger to Camaro and Mustang. It has a slower steering and softer ride compared to the other two, but the steering is still quick and the ride is much harsher than say the Chrysler 300 that uses the same suspension.

Then there was the phony roll over tests.
