DELL WARNS -- Says "may" pickup spring 2002 -->

Dell Computer (DELL) 25.38 -0.12: -- Update -- In Q&A portion of call, Dell clarifies that it just doesn't see a strong catalyst for a huge demand pickup in Q3; notes that business in Europe is getting a bit softer (not as bad as U.S.) and that it is seeing some softness in Asia; stresses that it is not providing guidance beyond Q3, but is looking to Spring 2002 as the period where it anticipates a more robust demand cycle from the corporate segment... DELL -0.56

Dell Computer (DELL) 25.38 -0.12: -- Update -- For Q3, sees industry units flat to down 5% sequentially and revenues down 5-10%; however, Dell expects its units to be up modestly and revenues to be flat to down 5% sequentially... DELL -0.63

After Hours Movers : Prices vs 4 pm close... SFA -4.50 is the session's biggest loser after issuing guidance that amounts to a warning. HWP +0.47 still higher after expressing expectations for sequential revenue growth.
DELL -0.53 still lower on the heels of its warning for the upcoming quarter. MXIM -1.80 sell pressure has accelerated after issuing a first quarter warning.

After Hours Indications : The late session tone has weakened modestly since the last update. S&P futures at 1183, trade two points below fair value while the Nasdaq 100 after hours indicator is lower by 4.5 points.

Scientific-Atlanta (SFA) 25.01 -0.22: Company says "declines in the deployment rates for the second calendar quarter reported after our earnings release and conference call could have an adverse effect on our first quarter and thereby on our fiscal year 2002 results." see press release.

Dell Computer (DELL) 25.38 -0.12: -- Update -- Company warns for Q3; sees earnings in the range of $0.15-$0.16 vs the consensus estimate of $0.17.
