Bush/Cheney has put us right back where we were during the Cold War.

Did you remember any of the cold war? I'm too young to remember most of it, but I talk to people who do remember it, and I've looked at it a lot as a matter of history. Even during the part I do remember we where in some ways more focused on the military. Earlier in the 50s and 60s you had a lot more focus on military threats and military issues. From large scale actions and programs, like the draft and a much larger military, frequent nuclear tests, very large overseas deployments etc.; to individual and small group actions like building bomb shelters, and "duck and cover".

but Bush/Cheney invade countries like I eat dinner.

You've eaten dinner twice since Bush was inaugurated?

Afghanistan was a fairly direct response to 9/11. The invasion of Iraq happened after well over a decade of problems with Iraq/Saddam, and after people across the political spectrum had called for regime change in Iraq. You might argue against the policy but good idea or bad it didn't just come out of nowhere.
