You are using the parochial United Statian meaning of "liberal". If you look at how liberalism was originally developed in England centuries ago, the liberals were the worshippers of the market and hence against regulation. That's why the correct terminology for Thatcher/Bush/Reagan and their ilk is not neo-conservative but neo-liberal, though as I said parochial political considerations have overwhelmed that in your country. United Statians mean something different when they use the term "liberal" than everyone else in the English speaking world. LC
