I stand by my statement that if you look outside your country, you would find that what passes for conservative in the rest of the liberal democracies -- I'm using the traditional meaning of "liberal", not the recent American version -- would be seen as very very liberal in the US.

Your left wingers are far to the right of the right wing parties in the other democracies on almost every issue. The entire spectrum of American politics covers only a small portion of the political spectrum in other democracies

For example, the current Canadian Conservative government, in many ways the most right wing government we'd had in a century, would be run out of town on a rail in the US with the words "commie pinko" taped on their back. They may be somewhat pro the Iraq war and engage in rhetoric against government regulation, but many of their policies would be unacceptable anywhere in the US besides Berkeley.

Anyway, I've got to get back to work. Over and out.
