It would seem that most people agree this is an overpriced stock. That makes me a little nervous because clearly someone out there is preventing this stock from falling to $0/share, but they aren't posting. Whatever the case, I wish this thread had more bulls for a dissenting opinion.

Ah, finally a number for the amount of power consumed by a microprocessor! 10% (see the article this reply refers to). I knew it was low, but not that low. So, if Transmeta can reduce the power of their chip to 10% of the competition, the actual impact on total laptop power would be about a 9% reduction. Hard to get excited about that. . .

I just ran across the PC Week review for the first Transmeta-based portable. I've seen a lot of quotes from this article, but never the actual review.

Although set to maximum, the PictureBook’s performance was a bit anemic. The unit’s Business Winstone 99 test score was just 9.7, which is low compared with other ultraportables. Part of this low score may occur because the Winstone benchmark test does not repeat tasks, which minimizes the opportunities for the Code Morphing technology to have an effect.

The battery test was an acceptable 2 hours 17 minutes. This test was carried out at maximum-performance setting, but our heavy-usage simulation tests revealed little difference, at 2 hours 35 minutes, for power-saving mode. This measurement range matches Sony’s minimum battery life specification, however.
