With digital broadcasting slated to begin in the last quarter of 1998, BDB, the U.K.'s largest commercial digital terrestrial broadcaster, has selected DiviCom to supply headend compression and multiplexing equipment at its digital terrestrial television broadcast center located in central London.

Among the hardware purchased is DiviCom's newest program encoder, the MediaView MV40. BDB will also utulize DiviCom's MediaNode MN20 multiplexer and the DiviCom MPEG Media Toolkit. The purchase is estimated at $5-6 million.

BDB will also used DiviCom's services to integrate its headend equipment with the MediaGuard conditional access system provided by Canal+. (DiviCom, Anne Hohenberger, 408/490-6688)
