engineer,

<< GSM growing ONLY because TDMA failed? >>

It doesn't appear that way. The fastest growing "nationwide" network in the US is T-Mobile and significant migration of IS-136 to GSM subs of AWS and Cingular, or Dobson hasn't even really begun to pick up steam YET ... and is not being aggressively marketed by either YET.

There is a very aggressive move by AWS affiliates to migrate to GSM EDGE in both 800 and 1900 MHz in preparation for aggressive marketing efforts, however.

<< AT&T, Cingular is not incentivising, they are outright forcing people to change. >>

Would you care to elucidate on that? That has not been my observation but it is entirely possible that I have failed to observe something that you have observed.

Do you also feel that US Cellular is "outright forcing people to change" from AMPS and IS-136 to 1xRTT or are they approaching the migration differently that AWS who is in turn approaching the migration differently than Cingular.

TIA and Best,

- Eric -
