There was a GREAT parody of CNBC on The Daily Show with John Stewart last night.. (comedy central)

The two reporters were sitting behind a desk, the ticker was scrolling across the bottom of the screen, etc.

They were discussing the new plan by congress to allow people to invest their social security money in the stock market.. They both agreeed it was a great idea:

"Why is this a good idea? Because the average investor is stupid. And this means all that stupid money is going to come knocking, looking for a place to go! This presents the perfect opportunity to make up companies that dont exist and sell it to those average investors! I've already made the first one up: MyPhonyCompany.com !"

"And do you have any stock picks for this week?"

"Yes, I've found this great little company that is going to revolutionize everything."

"Well let our viewers know, what's the name?"

"MyPhonyCompany.com. It's going to the moon. I recommend a STRONG BUY."

LOL. Maybe the best way to stop this mania is to present the utter insanity in a way that even the dumbest investor can understand..
