Why do so many otherwise vocal and intelligent people today seek out things to be offended at?

Bush had to make a stand for Christianity for obvious reasons. The Christian right helped elect Bush and they are a powerful lobby. What you saw was Caesar paying homage to his most loyal followers. You would do the same thing if you were on that stage.
