Smirk. No, of course not. However, MSFT needs to buy back significant quantities of stock regularly as a part of doing business. It's better for everyone if they can buy it back at a reasonable price because a) employees get lower strike prices and b) it costs the company less.

Ask your friendly neighborhood MSFT employee - you'll find that they all believe that it'll go up long-term, so low strike prices are good :-).
