Where's the persecution of Christianity in this quote from Thomas Jefferson ?
Message 16698687

" The doctrines which flowed from the lips of Jesus himself are within the comprehension of a child; but thousands of volumes have not yet explained the Platonisms engrafted on them: and for this obvious reason that nonsense can never be explained." "

We live in an age of reason & democracy , where there are
many interpretations of what is meant by living a virtuous
life filled with grace. But by no means does "being Christian" mean one is in any way , shape, or form superior to the many other forms of beliefs and paths evolved and revealed to human beings
on this planet...

It does not mean you are any more divine.

If your belief evokes deep feelings and reverence for life
in you , a Joi de Vivre, or an Elan Vitale then something is working
out well for you.

If not , then something's deeply amiss, inside you .

There is nothing to do with "persecuting" Christians
with pointing out there are several billion people on this
planet that have very respected belief
systems other than your own .

I feel as much at home in a Christian Church as I do
in a Mosque or Ashram or Buddhist Temple . And try always
to treat those other beliefs with
respect ....and reverence .

I would hope as Christian , Jesus taught you something of
the same ...and then there was peace .
