Twister:

MFST and SUNW started out in two different market places. I'm
sure you know all this already, but... SUNW started out trying
to take away market from DEC (and others on the desktop and mid
range) and has moved up the chain to push against mainframes.
In general, they did a fairly good job. MSFT didn't bother
Scott to start with. But, once Bill moved from providing his
MS/DOS to providing true environments (either office type or
development type) - Scott saw the handwritting on the wall.

Now, the handwritting does not spell the death of SUNW - just
the limits to which it can grow. I don't think Scott likes
limits given to him. Anyway, both companies will live (and live
well) in the future. Actually, I think that it is because both
are there that both will do well. Bill and Scott keep each other
focused.

It's kinda like my grandma told me. If there is only one lawer
in town, he/she will go broke. Bring in the second lawer and
they will both get rich!
