Actually for every co. that goes bankrupt it brings us closer to the bottom. The market crash was created by excess... bankruptcy is one painful way of eliminating excess. It removes the "supply" half of the supply/demand equation. Yes, sure, the accounts receivables go uncollected, but the surviving companies just write them off and smooth over the earnings to make everything look oh-so-golden. Then demand comes in and there are fewer companies left to respond so their value (stock price) increases, and we're off to the races... at a slow limp
