If this type of wreck can be prevented in the future it won't be through the efforts of conventional media, witness the disaster on the MINE thread. Some of those people would benefit from the experience of the honest longs on this thread, don't you think.

Yes indeed. Unfortunately wisdom is almost always only won through pain. There are many similar stories on SI. Many might offer words of caution to the MINErs as you and others have. But it is an unfortunate fact of life that few will listen till they have burned their fingers.
