The CNBC puff piece was as good as that network will ever do on anybody! They gave fair time to the 16 quarters of improved profitability, had lots of lovely pictues of LEDs shining in various applications, lots of lab folks walking around looking lab-like. Touched on the sexy blue laser and the use of LEDs for interesting big-time apps (like the NASDAQ building, which is not using CREE leds, if memory serves), and noted the real possibility of replacing incandescent bulbs in the future (although how this would actually happen wasn't spelled out too well - I mean the business case). The picture of the 2 inch streched wafer was great, as was the implied yield from that wafer - (of course, we can expect much better from 3 inch and 4 inch wafers). No mention of microwave uses (that I remember) and really only a quick allusion to SiC properties.
Still, a nice piece, all in all, and will raise awareness of CREE in certain retail quarters. |
