Art – this whole discussion started when you took exception to the term “creeping socialism” never once, have I ever heard anyone on this thread condone subsidies to the private sector.

Ronald Reagan once said:
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

IMHO, the reason governments do subsidize businesses is to control the outcome of their operations. CEOs are like cheap whores and the politicians know it – the moment they sign on for a subsidy is the moment the BOD looses control over the destiny of the corporation. Governments also attempt to control wages through unionization and legislate what fair and equitable. I believe they call it the handicapped system – where the employer pretends to pay the worker, and the employee pretends to work.

I recognize that the airline industry is heavily regulated, it’s also held hostage by unionized employees and now it’s being held hostage not only by cheap airfare and overcapacity but also by the added expense of terrorism.

So let’s cut the crap, this thread isn’t a radio talk show – we could have a Liberal/Conservative debate for the next million years – will that help me and my friends on SDII make money? The time it took for me to compose this post was time taken away from my FA work.

Strictly Drilling is about making money, it’s about pursuing the American dream, and it’s certainly not about long-winded pissing contests.

Regards
Frank P.
