Is the action of the Fed buying back the same worthless clownpaper that it issues analogous to (a) a corporation buying back its own stocks to reduce dilution, or (b) a penniless convenience store cashier floating larger and larger checks each day, to keep his earlier-written checks from bouncing before payday arrives? -ng-

...or perhaps there is an option 'c' that I overlooked.
