dh,

I think you are right that it is hard for us to judge Hector's contribution. I think there is a small chance that even the ill fated presentation at MSDW will help AMD a great deal. what if Intel's 1 GHz notebook blows up in their faces, like the 1.13 Piii? I think Intel was pushed to the introduction of a CPU that is really not ready for notebook market by the threat of a possible 1 GHz Palomino. Even in its absence, the missing Palomino performed some service, since Intel would not have prematurely introduced 1 GHz Piii. Intel would have waited until Tualatin, (which will be a tough competitor for notebook Palomino).

Anyway, I was surprised how quickly Hector got the the top of the pay rates and especially option grants. I hope it works out, since AMD made a serious commitment to Hector.

As far as pay of management vs. employees, the company clearly have to have pay that will attract good quality people in both categories, and I have no data to suggest that this is not happening. I don't have data supporting suggestion that the pay rates and bonuses are not appropriate, so I am probably just going to go along and vote "Yes".
