Unlike you, I have confidence that the current government and our military will not repeat the mistakes of the past and that we do not now and never will have a dictatorship running this war. I am not unsettled by the Afghan government's refusal to allow foreign reporters into areas it controls. I remember well the Iraq War and the hysterical media reports of hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians being incinerated by our bombs. The war ended prematurely. The grossly exaggerated figures were not borne out by the facts.
