Just a totally off topic note to all of you while we are waiting for promised developments and news from PRLN, which may be awhile since company officers seem to be caught up in extraneous and irrelevant side shows for the time being, that there is some interesting reading currently available. If you want to understand the world reaction to the death of Princess Diana I think it has something to do with the return of Clarisa Harlowe, a book by Richardson of the same name might be enlightening. If non-fiction is your bent, required reading is "NO CONTEST Corporate Lawyers and the Perversion of Justice in America" by Ralph Nader and Wesley J. Smith. Chapter 5 "SLAPP:TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS" is especially good. SLAPP stands for suits or threats of suits which fall into the category of Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation. Essentially it discusses the increasingly blatant attempts of corporations and corporate lawyers to intimidate critics. The idea is even if critics are right or within their rights, make sure they know that they stand up for their legal rights at their own risk, ie let them know that even if they are asserting First Amendment rights they can get sued and, even if right, would have to pay legal fees to prove it and a corporation can often make sure the legal fees will be high enough to make the actual issue irrelevant to most individuals. It gives many examples of the kind of unbeleivable and unmitigated petty and small minded vendettas that some corporations and corporate lawyers will indulge in, often at rather great diversion of effort and money that could be better spent on the core business of the corporations. It is quite an enlightening book. Good reading to everyone.
