Is there any way to look at the trends in daily postings in terms of volume.

It can be done and some have done it before, but it's not easy. It comes down to manually checking post numbers at a specific time each day to see how many new ones there are, or writing a script to do the same thing.

And we don't mind scripts, as long as they're not wasting our bandwidth by stepping through post numbers one at a time. There are ways to do it without using "stone axe" coding.

I have access to reporting that includes data like that, but it's business intelligence, so I can't just slap it out there.
