Dow Jones Newswires -- November 9, 1999 DJ Judge Sets Schedule For Findings Of Law In Microsoft Case WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson has set the schedule for filings related to the findings of law phase of the antitrust lawsuit brought by the Justice Department and 19 states against software giant Microsoft Corp. (MSFT). In this phase of the trial, the parties are asked to apply their facts and opinions about the case to antitrust law. The judge will then rule on those findings, perhaps as early as spring. The following is the U.S. District Court's schedule: Dec. 6, 1999 - Justice files conclusions of law brief; Jan. 17, 2000 - Microsoft response due; Jan. 24 - Justice may file reply to Microsoft; and Jan. 31 - Final reply from Microsoft due. Judge Jackson has asked the parties to stick to the facts of law in their memorandums and avoid "the subjective of remedy or injunctive relief for which the court will set a separate schedule, if warranted." Any discussion of remedies would begin next summer, assuming that the judge finds in favor of the government, as his recent findings of fact might indicate. BEST WISHES BILL
