JDN, 5% is good since 6/30, but your 36% since Jan 1 is really impressive and shows you've done a great job of selecting stocks! I've only switched from index investing to individual stock investing recently -- or, should I say trading? Probably. So, it's too early to rate that, despite the BEAS success. But, prior to that, my index trading had me up about 15% while avoiding significant losses during this year's downdrafts. Since the goal of that is to minimize risk, I was quite happy: trading indexes in a market going nowhere, I was ahead. Successful market timing, which of course we all know is impossible.
