I see what happens to people here on vacation when they don't dance. They spend their evenings either getting drunk in a bar, or back in their hotel room watching TV.
Well, Lindy, I see that you're religious after all...<g>
Social dancing is the best activity I know of for meeting people and staying active in a coed world.
That's interesting. I think exercise classes and sports are good. So is volunteer work. And then there are classes and lectures, book clubs, hobbies, and the like. Or just hanging out at the health club. What particularly interested me was your reference to a "coed world." I tend to think of the world as mostly androgynous, except under special circumstances, of course. I think that, as we get older, an androgynous approach to social activity makes sense given the growing population mismatch between the sexes. But then, unlike you, I've never bought the Mars/Venus thing and tend to think of people as people.
BTW, I've vacationed in Hawaii four times in my life and I'm sure I never spent a minute in a bar. I doubt I ever turned the TV on, either. Perhaps just for a few minutes to catch the news. I would be sleeping while you're dancing, and up and out at the crack of dawn enjoying the glories of that beautiful place. I think I still remember how to dance well enough, although I imagine that the tango might be a bit much at this point in time. Perhaps if they had dance floors outdoors during the day I'd get out there. Nah, I'd be in the water. Different strokes, Bill. |
