patents'R'fun ......... chapq, << here's 1/10th of the 15%, still looking for the other 13.5% >> If, as a matter of curiosity, you are interested on doing research into this, and after tracking down UMTS IP declarations the recent report published by Informa Telecoms & Media in 3G Mobile and Mobile Handset Analyst might be a good place to start, if you can get hold of a copy: enn.ie They name 3 potential major stakeholders who aren't members of the 3G Patent Pool and most certainly will be (are) negotiating licenses and cross-licenses. There are, of course, many others who have declared UMTS IP to ETSI, or the ITU or their respective SDO. Goldstein & Kearsey's new book on 3G IPR might also be of interest ... 3gpatents.com It's rather far down my list of 2005 reading. Best, - Eric -
