Interesting conjecture about the Estrada nomination. The proverbial light just came on for me on that one. It did seem a complete waste of political capital, but your explanation is very plausible.

For the sake of our international friends here, and those who don't have their tinfoil hats tuned in yet, I'll carry on with you about this elsewhere.... :)
