sounds to me like you are doing fine. that's good news.

excellent idea to shed nav2000 and go with nis2003.

as for not finding any traces of klez... the symantec knowledge base (kb) article states that this behavior you experienced happens if your machine has been infected, which i did not necessarily take to mean currently is infected.

i gather that klez could have damaged and/or removed certain nav files, thus causing the alert you received.

perhaps the repair tool doesn't just look for klez, but fixes the damaged or missing files.

i would also draw your attention to this item in the symantec kb article...

"If the removal tool does not detect one of the W32.Klez variants, then run LiveUpdate and download the latest virus definitions and then follow the steps in the document How to configure Norton AntiVirus to scan all files to configure NAV to scan all files."
service1.symantec.com

although i believe that the configurations are pretty much the defaults, it would probably be worth your time to step through the process just to double check.

finally, i recommend that while viewing options, you should take a look at Bloodhound heuristics and ratchet the setting up a notch to the highest level of protection (default is a lower setting).

best of luck
