David, I agree, and because SI needs more posters (too much inbreeding going on . . . one sees the same people everywhere) to add to the mix of new ideas, let the silent ones see many ads until they get on board.
Scanner Man, you're in there with the regulars. Nine days of good posts.
kholt, good work Karen, you to have much to offer, and its about time you contributed.
Stephen, you have been contributing since August. Not too shy I think. Good posting.
There are differences in approach and delivery among face to face, public speaking (essentially one way) and posting. With posting one must be careful to avoid ambiguity and concentrate on accuracy and responsiveness. Unlike face to face, you don't get to correct your slips of the lips instantly. Your words get analyzed and criticized. The next day you find you read too fast and typed too swift. It happens to everyone. I had to prostrate myself in apology before the TMMI thread when I stuck my foot in my mouth. Dennis P had invited me over, and I got carried away with my cleverness. The next day Dennis said, "Don't insult the regulars." Actually he said it nicer than that. I looked back and found I had really screwed up. Well, you can go look if you want.
And, certain etiquette to observe. One doesn't jump into a thread and. in essence say, "I'm too lazy to read the posts, tell me what's going on." You see that from time to time, and it always get a flame.
IMO anonymous posting is less threatening. I used to do training seminars. When new material was added, I could tell from the looks on the faces where I had gone wrong. Some people were pretty blunt during the Q&A. That really hurt.
