Bob and all: That article left out the personal computing business section. This section contains personal computer modems which makes up about 1/3 of the company. Modem sells may give Conexant a big plus in earnings this quarter and next. This quarter is the biggest for modems because of the increase in personal computer sells at year end. Dell and HP have recently said they don't see any decrease in sells because of Y2K and are expecting increases in the second half. There was some news about disk drives being in short supply too. Maybe this demand will keep modem prices up and there will be more orders late this quarter and next because computer makers were not sure of sells because of Y2K.
The other sections are growing much faster then personal computing This will keep decreasing the percent modems make of the company which is what wall street wants to see.
