Reg, Actually it was an honest question.
Communicator supports OLE, so all those live links you spoke about are supported in Communicator, no? I've been updating Excel workbooks with live quote data for a long while, and I know Lotus has OLE capability, too. That's really nothing new.
The Powerpoint stuff sounds interesting, but you certainly don't need it on every desktop. A salesperson may make his own presentation for a particular client meeting, but enterprise-wide web-publishing will be a specialized effort, even at the departmental level, requiring review and authorization. That's just how big companies work.
I need an education on Access Jet databases. I've certainly heard of Access, and it's a pretty good little database for small groups. I know SuiteSpot supports Oracle, Sybase, Informix, now SQL Server. Plus Communicator now has the IBM 3270 utility to perform live queries into all the IBM CICS stuff. That pretty much covers the enterprise landscape.
I'm feeling my way here. If I sound argumentative, assume it's in the form of a question... This thread, by necessity, is not about browsers anymore!! |
