(What makes you think Motorola is pretty late to market? GMGC trialed its product with carriers last spring, Motorola is trialing this fall... 6 month difference doesn't sound that bad to me.
Motorola, unlike certain Sunnyvale based start ups, doesn't have to announce services a year and a half in advance to get investors and analysts excited in order to raise cash. For all we know they could have been working on it for a while. How long has Wildfire been around? )
(Note to forum: I'm not trying to beat this MOT thing to death either, but am trying to understand competitive issues related to GMGC.) Hi Chris;
I see from your profile you are an engineer in Schaumberg, Ill, I'm assuming for MOT. Without compromising anything confidential, can you tell us if you're working on Myosphere? Is it positioned as a direct competitor to GMGC? From your tone I'm assuming yes.
In response to your comment, yes, I do believe that Motorola is late to market. 6 months can be an eternity in an emerging market. It's possible that Portico will be the recognized name in the market by the time Myosphere introduces (ala PalmPilot). Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in competition, but having worked on lots of development projects for technology companies, my experience is that larger companies move slower than smaller companies, and only about 5% of projects get introduced on-time and with the full feature set that was initially announced. Best of luck to you, but I'm betting on GMGC.
Best regards,
Drew
P.S. At the end of your message are your referring to Netiva's Wildfire project? |
