There is a bill to encourage the usage of NG based transportation.

Exxon does not project much of a future role for NG in transportation

Message 26165026

That could be because it would compete with their imported oil products.

There is a need to have much more NG related infrastructure in order to markedly increase the usage of NGV (natural gas vehicles) in transportation.

And there comes the chicken and egg business. Which comes first the vehicles or the infrastructure?

Why buy the NGVs, when you don't have the NG infrastructure available to fuel them?

And why build the infrastructure when there are so few vehicles on the road? And so the problem becomes circular.

However it is becoming increasing popular for fleets (trucks, buses taxis) to switch to NG because it makes sense to supply the infrastructure in a one large central refueling station.
