Nice touch. I'd recommend the Arctic icecap, I think. That way, even if one captured an area it would eventually break up and melt, so we'd have no lasting claims. With luck sheets would collapse while they were still fighting on them, from time to time... And the Eskimos could have some more interesting targets to practice traditional hunting skills on.
