Jules: From a hardware point of view the content of the article sounds great!! How about all of the trillion $s worth of application code? How will they convert them to run on the new hardware? It will cost trillions more to do so! IMS has been around for years and it still will be around after both you and I are long dead!! Who is going to pay for this cost? At one time I also belief that the days of mainframes are numbered! However, I have changed my mind since the INternet era! I don't belief that mainframes will never be replaced by distributed computing!
