Their objection is to the use of their territory for the staging of attacks against Iraq (or any other Arab neighbor), unless it is a defensive action and the country is threatened by an aggressor. There is a great degree of reluctancy on the part of every Mid-East nation to allow foreign forces to attack fellow Islamic nations from their own soil. There is no chance that Saudi will ever allow air strikes or ground forces to attack Iraq without provacation from within their borders...which is why the carriers are always present in the Persian Gulf. As for US aircraft within Saudi, there have always been US military (also UK) aircraft present at the Riyadh and Dhahran bases ever since the US began training their pilots when the Saudis began purchasing large amounts of F-15s. That's about 20 years now, I believe. Style Pts.
