The screw up was the vast extension of government control. That's why we had a decade long depression, instead of a perhaps severe but much shorter downturn.

Ridiculous! You are speculating. The entire world was in Depression. It wasn't this simple event where a questionable injection of supply side economics would have done the trick. The GOP blame game rarely has solid foundations.........you should know that by now.
