Diane,

I see that Douglas Goold and Andrew Willis of the GLOBE AND MAIL have a book on Bre-X out already! I guess if you spent less time "conducting research" in Indonesia (or wherever) or surfing the net and more time writing you might gotten your book out first.

Oh well, that's Canada's competitive free market picking the winners and losers for you. But don't fret, just because they beat you to the punch doesn't mean that they'll outsell you, or that your book will seem less relevant when it is released. I'm sure that the FINANCIAL POST and the other SUN newspapers will provide you with some free publicity when your book is ready.

Maybe some of the great leads that I saw posted in this newsgroup will make your book such a sensation that no one will remember THE BRE-X FRAUD (Douglas Goold and Andrew Willis - Published by McClelland and Stewart Ltd.).

I hope you do keep up your work on the book until it is complete. Don't compromise the quality by rushing - take as much time as you want, after all, in my opinion, the FINANCIAL POST has been a much better read without your columns, which I have always beleived were foaming at the mouth, misinformed, illogical rants. It too bat that we couldn't convince Frum and Coren to go away and write a book on something - maybe something to do with Gypsies ...

Regards,
John Sladek

P.S. I do like that picture of you that FRANK magazine uses - very lady-like ("Let them eat cake!").
