"NextWave will join its complementary sister company in space, Globalstar, at the heart of a CDMA fabric of culture-independent worldwide communications. Watch Motorola's obsolescent Iridium, with its exclusive spectrum requirements and its effort to bypass all local infrastructure, sink like a stone." It looks as though I'm not the only one and am in good company calling Iridium [and GSM] obsolete before it is even working. The rest of the article is very interesting as well and is worth reading. Thanks to others in Iridium discussion and Loral for finding and posting these urls.
