CR u r a good guy, your points valid, but you need to look at what MHS is, what they have, etc.
1. MHS is getting paid on any governmental contracts they have
2. Good doctors,nurses going to the US is irrelevant for MHS getting paid. I assure you there has, is, and will be a healthcare sector in Canada!
3.Recall MHS's software is installed in over 600 hospitals and other institutions. In addition, it's practice mgmt systems operate serving over 6,000 physicians, pharmacists, dentists, & other health care persons.
4. the CANADIAN healthcare IT mkt expected to be $1.5 billion in year 2000.
5. Again, MHS intends to develop USA more - getthe model working well in Canada - good idea
6.Just FWI, people in USA wait in line as well. Where Cdn's go to USA for care is primarily when the technique / treatment not available in Canada. US has the newest of the new - percetage wise of all the people who use healthcare services, do you think half, quarter, one twentieth of people rush the border, banging on US hospitals doors, like some boxing day sale - check the statistics - I don;t have them with me, yet am familiar with both healthcare systems.
7.Also, the % of rich people I'm sure is not a huge %, else unemployment would br higher as some would choose not to work, etc etc - I assure you the Cdn health system has,is,and will be in existence - becming more privatized /less public gov't funded |
